About/History: Founded in 2005, Bathys Hawaii Watch Co. reflects the vision of its founder John Patterson:
"Hawai'i is a land where the raw power and beauty of Nature is directly available to everyone. The strength of the ocean and the newness of the earth here mean that one must be at all times aware and respectful of the forces of nature - otherwise you can get hurt - or worse. This is a place where mistakes can have consequences. My watches are designed to work regardless of the amount of abuse they have to take. Here in Hawai'i you might be at 13,000 feet up Mauna Kea one day and 100 feet underwater the next. There's not many places on Earth where such extremes are a routine part of life."

Case, Bezel and Crystal:
The whole case is made of grade 5 titanium. While a large watch at 48mm and 57mm lug to lug, the case does not appear as large as one might assume. The lugs have a large curve to them, which helps make it look smaller and wear well on the wrist. The brushing of the titanium case is very smooth and fine, no rough spots at all. The large signed crown is easy to manipulate and screw/unscrew. Very solid feeling crown. The crown guardscurve out from the case and seem to do their job of protecting the crown. As you can see in the photos below, because of crown placement and the case back, the crown will not dig into the wrist.

Case back:
The case back is a flat screw down case back, with a polished outer edge and a sand blasted textured middle with an engraving of the islands of Hawaii. Not an extravagant back, but not plain either, and its nice they stay within the theme of the company and where its based out of with the case back.
Kevlar Strap:The Kevlar strap is the new addition to the Benthic series. There will only be a 100 Benthics made with this Kevlar Strap. A very well made and good looking strap that is made composed of Kevlar fiber on the outside and red leather on the inside. Great contrast with red stitching and leather around the sizing holes. It is a great looking strap, and not a material you see used every day for watch straps. Only issue is the strap is on the short side at 120/80 and may be too small for some. It also has a signed grade 5 titanium buckle.
